Disney and Sephora have collaborated on a Cinderella Collection. Featuring romantic colors with whimsical names, the Cinderella Collection is what every grown-up princess hopes her fairy godmother will gift her this October (sorry, but we can get our pumpkins at Harris Teeter).
The collection features one fragrance, two eyeshadow palettes, a set of lipsticks and a set of nail polishes. The fragrance So This Is Love... is available in rollerball, 1.7 oz and Swarovski edition. For a mere $175 charge to your credit card (free shipping!), you get the 1.7 oz bottle adorned with sparking Swarovski crystals to cherish forever.
While the sparkling Swarvoskis can sparkle nicely behind locked cases in Sephora stores, the items I'm planning to snap up are the eyeshadow palettes. The Storylook Eyeshadow Palette is beautifully adorned with Cindy's shadow and a gold-brocade overlay that features tiny images from the story. This deluxe palette contains 20 shadow shades with story-inspired names etched beneath.
My favorite piece of the collection, however, is the more reasonably priced ($30) Midnight Hour Eyeshadow Palette. While the pretty, smokey palette doesn't feature cute names, it's the palette's case that has swept me off my feet. Cinderella is running away, her shoe has been left, twinkling on the steps, and the prince and castle watch from the background as she disappears. The moon, with golden numerals and clock hands striking twelve, is casting a beam of moonlight at the bottom of the steps, where her pumpkin-come-carriage is waiting for her.
One of the best parts of this collaboration is the design of the collection. Imagine how fun it would be to come up with the colors, scents and names for each item? Those team members must love their jobs. Take a look at their creative colors and cute names:
In other Disney-fashion collaboration news:
In honor of the movie's fall rerelease on Blu-Ray and DVD this year, Christian Louboutin showcased his version Cindy's of glass slipper this past summer. And on Nov. 14, Barney's will reveal its collaboration with Disney. The Electric Holiday will feature a 3-D light show and classic Disney characters reworked to walk the runway in designer garments and will be displayed in the luxury department store's windows. This is one Disney collaboration over which I'm less enthused. The characters look a bit creepy, to be honest. But Disney has been funding Tim Burton's projects for quite some time, so what's another off-putting video for the Disney Vault?
I won't mar this post about a beautiful Disney collaboration success with the horrors of the Electric Holiday, but you can see the slideshow preview here.
